Who We Are
First Flight Feed has been in operation since 2003 right here in Monticello, Florida.
Founded by former World Hunter Champion Rider, 1991 Pan Am Games Puerto Rican Equestrian Coach and Current Large “R” Judge, Dacia Funkhouser Johnson. Dacia Provides a wealth of knowledge when it comes to horse care and animal nutrition. In fact we started feeding ADM grain to our horses at our old fox hunting farm, Foxton Farm, in Romney Indiana. It was clear to us and everyone around us that our horses were thriving. People started asking how they could get it, so we became distributors.
Dacia’s daughter, Riley Haines, who is a current USEF Certified Trainer and ANRC Certified Rider, is also an integral part of the business. She has expertise in horse nutrition, especially when it comes to feeding horses properly during heavy training and horse shows. Her husband, Chris Haines, brings his expertise in business management, recreational facilities management and his passion for all things related to animal nutrition to the table to round out our equestrian super team.
We are distributors of ADM (www.admanimalnutrition.com) and Tribute feeds (www.tributeequinenutrition.com). 90% of our business is delivery based, but we do have self pickup options for smaller orders. We ask that you please call ahead before your first visit out to the farm.
Large, bulk orders can also be directly delivered to your feed operation Via trucks that come directly from ADM in Cordele, GA
We are a third generation horse farm specializing in equine care. We host horse shows, have a lesson program, broker horse sales and compete regionally in hunter/jumper shows. To say we live and breath this stuff would be an understatement!
When you first talk to us, we are going to ask you a lot of questions about your farm. Pasture/forage quality, water quality, access to exercise and overall care. Then, we will ask about your feeding program. Are you providing a complete/low starch feed, any free choice mineral access and are any high fat supplements being used? We have access to nutritionists that have serious knowledge about agricultural animals ranging from poultry, beef, dairy, equine, goat, dog, rabbit, deer and everything in between. So, if we don’t have an answer for you, our network of nutritionists will. We can even arrange a meeting at your farm with one of our experts if you have some hard keepers.

First Flight Feed is proud to offer high quality grain and supplement products from ADM and Kalmbach feeds. We welcome you to take advantage of our highly convenient, and affordable delivery service. Your grain will be neatly stacked in your barn, saving your back and a trip to town.

While 90% of First Flight Feeds business is ADM grain, we keep a limited amount of Kalmbach's Tribute equine feed line in stock. We are also able to order anything from the Kalmbach catalog.
